The Marathi language has a strong culture of literary humor that has teased the audience for years. Famous Marathi personalities like Pu La Despande and Acharya Atre have made a significant contribution to the humorous Marathi literature. Television and film actors, specially known for their comedy like Dada Kondke, Ashok Saraf and Laxmikant Berde have been humoring the Marathi audience for decades.
To continue the legacy and to create more comedians, Zee Marathi has launched a Comedy talent hunt show in Maharashtra called "Hasya Samrat". Hasya Samrat is an attempt to make a call to the hidden comedians in the inner parts of Maharashtra by giving them a platform through which they can reveal their talent in front of the entire Marathi audience.
Jitendra Joshi – one of the most talented comedians in the Marathi Entertainment industry, is anchoring the show.
The celebrated juries for the show are Mr. Ashok Naigaonkar and Makrand Anaspure.
