So far, box office success may have eluded Sonam Kapoor’s films to a large extent but that definitely does not take away the powerhouse of talent which she as an actress and a star happens to be at the moment. That is precisely the reason for which we feel that when it comes to her acting skills and her overall persona, she is clearly in a league of her own and that is indeed what makes her so special in the first place.
Daughter of acclaimed actor Anil Kapoor – an Indian star who has carved his niche in Hollywood with acute aplomb, thanks to appearances in films like Slumdog Millionaire and Mission Impossible – Ghost Protocol as well as US TV shows such as 24, Sonam Kapoor first came into the limelight in 2007 with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya which unfortunately did not really set the cash registers ringing at the box office. Neither did her next film – Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Delhi 6 in 2009 do very well at the box office.
In fact she tasted box office success only in 2010 with the film I Hate Luv Storys. Subsequent films like Aisha in 2010 and Thank You in 2011 also did not do all that well at the box office. Her much publicized Mausam alongside Shahid Kapoor, written and directed by Shahid’s father Pankaj Kapoor, also did not do well at the box office. Her first film in 2012 – Players also failed at the box office.
But through all of this, there has never been any denying about the acting talent which Sonam Kapoor clearly possesses. Therefore, one simply gets the feeling that the kind of scripts which she got may not have been all that good. Or somehow it was just bad luck that the films which she signed on did not do all that well at the box office. The reason we are stressing on this aspect here is simply the fact that when it comes to the Indian film industry – and indeed any film industry, box office certainly plays a critical role, with a string of flops probably leading to “pack up” for the concerned actor’s career.
In the case of Sonam Kapoor though, we are certain that is not the way things will pan out for her and we will surely see her perform with complete panache in many more films to come in the future – films that will actually do well at the box office too.
Moreover, she has already been regarded as a fashionista of sorts, whereby she even managed to appear at the 64th Cannes Film Festival representing L’Oreal, a brand which she endorses and happens to be the brand ambassador for, in India. She has also always been a consistent face on so many different TV shows – be it on celebrity talk shows, chat shows, during IPL matches and so on that no one can really miss out on Sonam Kapoor ever, nor can she be out of the limelight.
This is certainly true for
WatchIndia.TV as well, given the fact that we have a string of channels on offer, which feature Sonam Kapoor and her movies, at practically any given point in time!
