Poonam Pandeyis a celebrity model who has adopted some rather intuitive ways to gain fame and popularity, including but not limited to sending out nude pictures of her on certain occasions as a way of drawing attention to her.
Poonam Pandey first came into the limelight as the Kingfisher Calendar Girl for 2011. The same year she made a promise that if India were to life the Cricket World Cup she would go naked and post pictures of the same. Now, even though India did win the Cricket World Cup the same year, Poonam in fact did not keep her promise. In some ways, Poonam was following in the footsteps of Luciana Salazar of Argentina and Larissa Riquelme of Paraguay who had both made similar promises if their respective countries were to win the FIFA World Cup, which of course did not happen in their case.
In that regard, Poonam Pandey did prove to be a major disappointment for a lot of fans who were looking forward to her keeping her promise.
Eventually though, she did keep her promise in some way as she stripped completely for Shahrukh Khan and his IPL (Indian Premier League) team, KKR or Kolkata Knight Riders. They were the coveted winners of IPL 2012, where they defeated Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s team, the Chennai Super Kings, in a nail biting final at the Chepauk stadium in Chennai. Poonam Pandey went on to post the picture on Twitter, where she claimed that she did keep her promise eventually and was moved by the fact that fans were utterly disappointed when she did not keep her promise last time around when India won the Cricket World Cup in 2011.
Apart from modeling and appearing nude on occasions like the ones mentioned above, Poonam Pandey has also appeared on television, with Akshay Kumar on the reality television show Fear Factor – Khatron Ke Khiladi Season 4. There she happened to be one of the contestants who braved the odds against so many different hurdles, obstacles and challenges to eventually prove to be a role model woman who could come up trumps in such a fashion.
Moreover all of these antics and histrionics on the part of Poonam Pandey have eventually managed to get her a much desired and eagerly sought break in Bollywood, where she is being cast in Amit Saxena’s (director of Jism) next film. This was a matter of intense speculation since Poonam first announced this piece of news which was initially denied by Amit Saxena. He however has since gone on record to officially confirm the development that Poonam Pandey is indeed the lead actor in his next project.
On the whole, all the controversies aside, there is no denying the fact that when it comes to being a brave girl who fights the odds, in a largely conservative country like India, Poonam Pandey comes up trumps and that is where she manages to impress in so many ways.
